New Haven, CT – Sean Mueller, a member of REVO2LT Running Team™ and a junior at Cheshire High School in Cheshire, Connecticut placed a close third in 15:49 at the New Haven 5K on September 7th in New Haven, Connecticut.  His time, which was only 4 seconds behind the winner, was a personal best by 19 seconds.

I could have gone 15 to 20 seconds faster, but just wanted to test my fitness,” said Sean, who placed 7th in the 2-mile at the Connecticut State High School Championships in June and placed 8th at the 2008 Connecticut State Cross Country Championships as a sophomore.  “I didn’t want to go all out so early in the season.  I felt I had a lot left and will improve a lot off this race.”

“15:49 is a remarkable performance for a high school junior,” said his coach, Dr. Jason Karp.  “He ran 5:06 mile pace for his best 5K ever off of only aerobic work the last three months, which is a great sign of things to come this cross country season.”

Sean Mueller opens his cross country season on September 19 at the Windham Invitational in Willimantic, Connecticut.  For complete results of the New Haven 5K, which was accompanied this year by the USA 20K Championships, go to is a coaching, personal training, and fitness consulting company, providing science-based coaching to runners of all levels and consulting to coaches and fitness professionals.  For more information and to subscribe to Dr. Karps free e-mail newsletter, go to
